Luanda is Angola's capital and was founded in 1576. Today it has a population of about 10 million people. The original
suburbs of Luanda are now closely interwoven with the city. During the civil war and in the period of economic growth afterwards, Luanda grew rapidly to the largest city in
Angola.
In the old town, Baixa de Luanda, there are still some houses in the colonial style, including along the splendid promenade "Marginal", the Ilha do Cabo and the offshore peninsula,
which forms the Bahia de Luanda, the bay of Luanda.
Most of the city's sights are in the old core. From year to year the structures of the sights are further
expanded.
Museums, monuments, the parliamentary buildings and the fortress of Sao Miguel are just a few of the fascinating buildings you can visit.
