The city of Luanda with its diversity and its many stories will surely cast a spell over you. Visit the suburbs of Luanda and learn about the daily and genuine life of the people in Luanda.
Popular with the inhabitants of the capital is Cacuaco, which was still a small fishing village in 1936, because of its white sandy beaches. Cacuaco is known for its religious festival in honor of São João Baptista, the patron saint of the city, where a procession to the sea has been held every June since 1948.
Market 30 (Mercado do 30) is one of the largest
markets in the Luanda area, where agricultural products from the surrounding regions are sold. From there, many traders in Luanda source their fruit and vegetables, which
they sell at stands or on foot in the city center.
Luanda has grown into a large metropolis in recent decades. In the meantime, many former small villages have integrated into the urban area,
but as a rule they have lost none of their history and harbor many cultural peculiarities.
